Everton star Amadou Onana is unlikely to be targeted by Barcelona in the summer, as his asking price is out of their reach.
That’s according to Sport, who say the player ‘escapes’ the Blaugrana because of Everton’s demands and valuation of the player.
The newspaper explains that Barcelona are on the market for a defensive midfielder, a pivot, this summer but their economic situation makes that search complicated.
They’ve already abandoned big names such as Bruno Guimaraes and Joshua Kimmich and were looking elsewhere, hence their publicised interest in the Everton midfielder.
Reports elsewhere have indicated they are open to selling Onana to help balance their books and avoid more PSR problems in future but have set a €60m asking price for him.
That’s a ‘prohibitive figure’ for Barcelona and unless they manage to secure several sales from their first team, a deal will not be happening.
Indeed, the belief is that they may now ‘withdraw from the bid’ and look elsewhere, leaving the Everton man to be fought over by other clubs who can potentially afford to match the Toffees demands.
