Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola could end up as England manager in future, with that move making plenty of sense for him.
That’s according to former Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho, who can also see his former manager taking charge of the Netherlands in future too.
Guardiola is currently in his longest spell at one club in his managerial career, having led Manchester City since 2016.
He’s taken charge of 457 games in total, nearly three times as many games as he managed at Bayer Munich and nearly double the number he had at Barcelona.
This summer will see him enter the final year of his deal at the Etihad and it remains to be seen if he’ll extend and move into a 10th season at the club or decide to move on to pastures new.
Fernandinho, who made 244 appearances under Guardiola when they worked together at Manchester City, can certainly see that happening.
“Guardiola is a very intense coach who I don’t think is going to coach past the age of 60-something. He’s going to stop,” he told AS.
“He demands too much of himself, it becomes overwhelming, you know? And so, it’s difficult to say that Brazil is at the top… It’s very difficult to know.
“There is a possibility (that Guardiola will be Brazil’s coach), but I think there are other teams that are also ready to have Guardiola as a coach.
“No, Spain I don’t think so. No. I would bet, as a possibility, England: he’s there, he knows the players and everything… And, maybe, Holland, he’d like that.”
