Following a last ditch attempt to sign Boulaye Dia in the summer, Wolverhampton Wanderers became public enemy number one at Salernitana.
The offer sent by Wolves was promptly rejected, causing the striker to rebel and eventually be cast aside by the Serie A club after refusing to come on in a recent league game.
It’s been made clear that this is the end for the player, who ‘will be sold’ in the summer, as per Tutto Salernitana, perhaps giving the Molineux side a chance to finally get their man.
Whether any approach from Wolves would be warmly received isn’t its said, but Dia’s days at his club ‘are over’.
Having spent €13m to make his loan from Villarreal permanent and aiming to sell him for around €30m last summer after a good season, Salernitana know they won’t get anywhere near as much this time around.
The website even state ‘it will be hard to get it back’ when talking about the initial investment, meaning Wolves, who were prepared to include an option to pay of €18m in their loan offer, could try and get him for less than €13m.
They would have to fight off Fiorentina, who appear to be interested, but we now have to wait and see if Gary O’Neil still wants him.
