Manchester City are about to lose the race for Spanish youngster Marcos Parriego, according to local rpeorts.
Journalist Rodra writes on X that it’s now Barcelona who are ready to sign the teenager from Rayo Vallecano.
It’s said that Parriego also had offers from Real Madrid and Manchester City, but decided to join the Catalan side instead.
The 18-year-old had been shining for Rayo Vallecano’s youth ranks, especially recently, and the three clubs were reportedly fighting for his signing.
Real Madrid even had him at their academy some years ago, but decided to release him. Now that he’s shown his true potential, they made a late move to get him back, and that was apparently in vain.
It’s said Barcelona’s financial offers was ‘much higher’ than what was proposed from Real Madrid and Manchester City. Their sporting project has also been key to attracting him, especially with so many players from Barça’s academy recently making their way to the first team.
The report claims it’s Real Madrid who tried ‘until the last moment’, but Parriego is really on his way to the Camp Nou side.
