Tottenham Hotspur are not known as one of the biggest spenders in the Premier League, but on a global scale they have more money to splash around than most.
That includes most clubs in the other big European leagues, and Spurs can often offer wages much higher than many of the teams they’re looking to buy players from.
According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Biasin, Tottenham made an attempt to sign Alessandro Bastoni in the not too distant past.
At the time, Antonio Conte was the club’s manager, and the claim is that Spurs tried to tempt Bastoni away from Inter Milan.
InterNews24 quote the journalist as saying: “A couple of years ago Alessandro Bastoni was highly courted by Conte’s Tottenham. They offered him more grain and the chance to play in the Premier League. He said: No thanks, I’m fine at Inter.
“There are many “strong” players, not all of them know how to protect their careers.”
Bastoni is again being linked with Premier League clubs, with his development and level at the Serie A side attracting interest from England and elsewhere. Tottenham aren’t really thought to be in the picture this time.
