Thomas Tuchel would consider a return to Chelsea in the summer transfer window, if Todd Boehly can swallow his pride and bring him back.
That’s according to SportBILD, who cover the German manager’s plans once he leaves Bayern Munich at the end of the season.
They explain that while the possibility of Tuchel taking a sabbatical is very much on the table, those around him are also assuring that he will take on a new job immediately, if the right offer is there.
He’s already been linked to Barcelona, but Tuchel believes that would be a move fraught with difficulties, particularly the language and the ‘special mentality of the club’.
Tuchel would instead prefer a return to the Premier League, and he is watching the English market for opportunities.
One of them could be at former club Chelsea, where he won the Champions League in 2021 but had to leave after a dispute with Todd Boehly, who had only taken ownership of the club in the summer.
It’s been something of a disaster since then, but Boehly knows that the club was ‘significantly better positioned’ with the German in charge.
In other words, he could be ready to eat humble pie and approach the German manager about a return to Chelsea and Tuchel would certainly be open to that idea.
His main focus is taking over a big team and putting his stamp on it, something he was unable to do in Munich but could perhaps manage with the young squad at Stamford Bridge.
The interest is there and he’s seemingly ready to return, but it will rest on whether Boehly is ready to make a change or stick by Pochettino.
