Former Denmark international Morten Bruun has urged Brentford not to part ways with Thomas Frank despite their recent poor run.
Speaking to Denmark’s TV2 Sport, Bruun said he would be surprised if the Bees decide to bring in a new manager.
Since the last international break in November, Brentford have won three out of 15 games, and two in the last 12.
This sees them in 16th spot, five points above the relegation zone. Despite their recent poor run, the 58-year-old is of the belief the Premier League side should continue to trust his compatriot.
Frank was instrumental in helping Brentford get promoted to the top flight in 2021, and has also helped them stay there so far.
TV2 Sport point out the Dane had a difficult start to his career at the London club, as he lost eight out of the first 10 games. Brentford owner Matthew Benham backed him then and Bruun expects him to continue to support Frank.
“You also look at a pattern in a club. And the pattern in Brentford is just that you keep your coaches. And with the relationship between Benham and Thomas Frank, it would shock me if he were sacked – even if they end up being relegated,” Bruun explained.
The manager’s deal at the Premier League side lasts until 2027. The former defender is of the belief the parties could mutually agree to part ways at some point, but not soon.
