Nottingham Forest forward Anthony Elanga believes Sweden manager Jon Dahl Tomasson can help him improve his game.
On Monday, the country appointed the Dane as their new manager, after he stepped down from Blackburn Rovers earlier this month.
Jon Dahl Tomasson operated as a striker during his playing career, scoring 197 goals and registering 50 assists from over 500 games.
Speaking to Discovery+, relayed by Fotbollskanalen, the Nottingham Forest player claims the manager’s experience could be vital for Sweden’s attackers.
“He was a great striker in his time, so I think everyone in the offensive department is licking their lips, knowing that he was a great striker who won many titles. It’ll be good,” he said.
“He’s the first foreign national team captain with us. It will be really interesting to work with him. It’s a new generation and a new era, so I feel we needed something different, and now it’s finally in place. Hopefully this can be the start of something big with the national team,” Elanga explained.
Elanga has also seen managerial changes at Nottingham Forest. They parted ways with Steve Cooper and appointed Nuno Espírito Santo as his successor in December.
The Sweden international has maintained his place under the current coach at Nottingham Forest, and it needs to be seen whether he’ll make it to Jon Dahl Tomasson’s side for this month’s international break.
Elanga has managed five goals and seven assists from 25 league games for Nottingham Forest this season.
