Liverpool star Alexis Mac Allister gave a long interview on Thursday to the Argentine media, speaking to Directv Sports.
With the Reds having just won the EFL Cup, the midfielder first spoke about the victory over Chelsea, before touching upon some of his compatriots, such as Tottenham’s Cristian Romero.
Liverpool spent €42m to bring Mac Allister from Brighton & Hove Albion last summer, but playing against the Spurs player is nothing new to him, having done so during his time with the Seagulls
Little has changed since then, as the Reds midfielder made it clear that facing the Tottenham defender never gets any easier, regardless of what team he plays for.
He said: “We had a few run-ins with Cuti Romero. He’s a real pain, very aggressive and if you don’t stand up to him he keeps hitting you. But we have a great relationship and it makes it easier.”
Other than the Tottenham player, Mac Allister also focused on one of his more recent opponents, with that being Enzo Fernandez, whom he faced in the cup final against Chelsea.
Knowing each other well, there is a mutual appreciation between the two, to the point where they tend to have a few words before heading onto the pitch.
Mac Allister added: “We respect each other a lot, we say hello to each other before the game. I have a great relationship with him. Always a lot of respect from both sides. Once you get on the pitch you fight for your team.”
