Over the past few weeks, there has been a resurgence of articles regarding a Newcastle United interest in Federico Chiesa.
They are likely coming because the Italy international is currently in the middle of a contract stalemate with Juventus, and we could have agents trying to make a push in the media to scare the Serie A side into meeting their demands.
It has been said that Newcastle are particularly attentive to his situation, and we now see some sort of semi-decision being made about his future, as reported by Gazzetta dello Sport.
They start off by saying the alarm ‘hasn’t sounded yet’, but the more this contract issue drags on, the closer ‘the deadline for the marriage’ between club and player.
They already have a potential full replacement at their club in Kenan Yildiz, but they could also get one from the €35-40m they would collect for Chiesa.
This is the amount Newcastle would have to spend to get the forward, but Juventus don’t have to make a choice just yet.
Still, ‘evaluations are underway’, and the Serie A side are looking at a few players who could come in to take over, such as Felipe Anderson, Albert Gudmundsson, as well as Domenico Berardi or Giacomo Raspadori.
Something for Newcastle to think about going forward, even if there has been the odd report stating Chiesa wouldn’t be interested in a move to St James’ Park.
Perhaps Sandro Tonali can change his mind?
