Aston Villa’s Nicolò Zaniolo hasn’t lost hope of representing Italy at the Euros in the summer.
That’s according to Gazzetta dello Sport, who state the winger is facing the risk of missing out on the national team squad.
Aston Villa signed the 24-year-old from Galatasaray on a loan deal with an obligation to buy if certain set conditions are fulfilled.
The Italy international has two goals from 28 games this season and his game time has been limited in recent weeks.
Gazzetta state the player suffered a bit of a ‘psychological backlash’ due to the betting scandal earlier in the season.
They add his adventure with Unai Emery’s side is considered ‘virtually closed’. The Villans are fourth in the table and it’s claimed the former AS Roma man won’t be retained, even if they qualify for the Champions League.
Aston Villa’s technical staff appreciate Zaniolo’s professionalism and attitude in training, as he has a clear goal of making it to the Euros. That, for now, has been made difficult due to the limited game time at Villa Park.
