Lyanco may currently be far from Southampton, having a year-long loan spell in Qatar, but Brazilian clubs are still trying to sign him from the Saints.
The latest information on the defender’s future is brought by Jorge Nicola, who was responding to the many fans who asked about the possibility of Bahia signing the defender.
The journalist claims that he asked Lyanco’s father, Marcelo Vojnovic, about those attempts to get him from Southampton.
It was revealed that Bahia made an approach back in January to one of Vojnovic’s business partners, but it didn’t go further than that.
Now that the Brazilian transfer window is about to close and Lyanco is back to playing for Al-Gharafa after a suspension, it’s very unlikely that a move to South America would happen.
The defender was loaned by Southampton last summer, but only has four appearances for the Qatari club so far.
His contract with the Saints runs until 2025, and it’s very likely they’ll try another solution for him in the next summer, most likely in an attempt to get him off the books permanently, which is probably when Bahia should try their luck again.
