Ruben Neves spent six years at Wolverhampton Wanderers before leaving them for Al Hilal last summer.
The midfielder has been a regular for the Middle East club this season, scoring four goals and registering six assists from 28 games so far.
The former Wolves man has been speaking to Speaking to O Jogo, where he insisted that he’s enjoying life in Saudi Arabia and hopes to continue there for at least two more years.
The Portugal international arrived at Molineux from FC Porto in 2017, when Wolves were in the Championship. He made 253 appearances for the club, scoring 30 goals and registered 13 assists in the process.
When asked what legacy he has left behind in England, the player explained that he wants to return to Molineux, this time as a supporter.
“I had a lot of affection for the players, for the people who work there, for the city… I often tell my wife that, if I have a longer break, I want to go back there to feel the stadium and the people. I was very loved.”
The Al Hilal star said that he continues to follow Gary O’Neil’s side and is still in contact with some of his former teammates, mainly his compatriots at Wolves. He’s of the belief their performances for Wolves will benefit Portugal.
“Pedro Neto is one of the people I talk to the most. I have a lot of contact with him. Him, Nélson Semedo, José Sá… They’re friends we don’t lose. I follow almost every Wolves game and I’m very happy with what they’ve been doing. They’re all in great shape, which is good for them, for the club and for Portugal,” Neves explained.
Wolves are ninth in the table, seven points behind fifth placed Tottenham Hotspur.
