On his third manager of the season after his exit from Sheffield United, Iliman Ndiaye might have found the right one in Jean-Louis Gasset.

The 70-year-old took over at Marseille last week after Gennaro Gattuso was sacked, and has had a great impact on the Ligue 1 club, who have won their last two games 3-1 and 4-1.

The latter came against Montpellier, and Le Figaro pick out the former Sheffield United star as one of the better players on the pitch, finally showcasing the ability he had put on display so many times at Bramall Lane.

Call this a ‘reference game’ for the forward, the newspaper highlight the ‘excellent display’ the Senegal international put on for the fans, playing a supporting role for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

He dropped very deep to take control of the game, and even scored the equaliser with a ‘nice shot with his left under the crossbar’ that helped turn the game on its head.

Ndiaye had yet to score at home for Marseille since joining from Sheffield United in a big summer transfer saga, and he received a ‘nice ovation’ from the home fans, having also been fouled in the area to help his side get a penalty.

In short, it appears the arrival of Gasset, known to get the best out of his players, is exactly what Ndiaye needed to get his Marseille stint on track.
