Aston Villa manager Unai Emery could be at the forefront of Bayern Munich’s thinking in the summer as they look for a replacement for Thomas Tuchel.

That’s according to ‘expert’ Marcel Reif, who insists the Spanish manager is someone Bayern are acutely aware of.

Bayern announced that Tuchel would be stepping away from his position as manager earlier this week, with pressure having mounted on the German boss over the last few months.

Several reports in Germany have made it clear he has lost the support of at least half of the dressing room, which appears to be split down the middle in terms of supporting the manager.

Thus, a decision has been made to part ways in the summer, adding Bayern to the list of clubs who will be looking for a new manager at the end of this season.

While the focus appears to be on Xabi Alonso at this moment in time, Unai Emery has also been thrown into mix as he continues to impress with Aston Villa.

The Villans have shown remarkable improvement under Emery since he took charge last season, going from relegation candidates to fighting at the top of the Premier League and in Europe.

It’s only helped to enhance the Spaniard’s reputation, with his current success at Aston Villa coming after he led Villarreal to their first European trophy as well.

And Bayern are more than aware of that, according to Reif, who believes the Aston Villa boss will be firmly on the list of options looked at.

“Unai Emery is a seasoned coach who Bayern also knows because he once annoyed them with Villarreal. Now he’s annoying the top clubs in the Premier League with Aston Villa. He’s doing a great job,” he said.

In the meantime, Tuchel is seeing out the season and it seems news of his departure hasn’t overtly affected him just yet.

BILD explain that the current Bayern boss was this week seen joyfully attending a ‘fancy French restaurant’ after the news of his departure broke.

He attended the “Chez Fritz” Brasserie in the chic Haidhausen district of Munich with several other people and ‘seems fine’ despite the fact he’s set to be out of work in the summer.
