Last year, when Loïc Badé was doing well at Sevilla on loan from Rennes, Tottenham were said to be interested in his signature.
After that, Spurs changed managers and hired Ange Postecoglou, with transfer plans clearly changing a bit, but that doesn’t mean their desire to sign him went unnoticed.
The defender, still at Sevilla after they bought him for €12m, sat down with Estadio Deportivo in Spain to discuss many subjects, including the interest from Tottenham, which he was more than happy to discuss, likely because it’s now a thing of the past.
He said: “There is a little bit of satisfaction. When a big club like Tottenham are interested, it’s because you do good things. But, on the other hand, there is something that tells you to be calm, you have to work and concentrate on games.”
In fact, the centre-back hinted that even if Tottenham were to come knocking on Sevilla’s doors in the next transfer window, he might even turn them down.
That’s because he has little desire to leave his current club, clearly delighted with how things are going at the LaLiga side.
He said: “I’m doing well. I like the city, I’m very happy here. If I have to stay here for 20 years, I will. I’m very happy here.”
Badé did spend some time in England in the past, initially getting loaned to Nottingham Forest, who never actually used him, allowing him to then move onto his second loan spell of the season at Sevilla, with the rest being history.
