Ahead of their clash against Arsenal in the Champions League, a lot of the Porto players are speaking to the media about the game and confident of their abilities to cause an upset.
The Gunners will go into the tie as favourites considering their recent form in England, but the Portuguese side will also have their bit to say, and that’s exactly what some of their squad members are making clear before kick-off.
The latest to do so is Nico González, who spoke to the media, relayed by O Jogo, and the 22-year-old gave a clear prediction about the two legged tie against Arsenal.
He said: “I’m convinced we’ll get through. Those who aren’t FC Porto fans don’t believe that, but I’m convinced that we’ll beat Arsenal at home and that we’ll go to London to play them. What I can guarantee is that we’re going to fight every minute of both games and give everything.”
The first leg of the clash will take place on Wednesday in Portugal, although Porto will have to make do with a number of their starters, including Mehdi Taremi, who picked up an injury during Sunday’s training session.
As for Arsenal, they will want to avoid falling to what appears a bit of a curse for them when it comes to the last 16 of the Champions League, as it is a hurdle they have often stumbled on more than once in their history.
