Barcelona are interested in Watford youngster Yaser Asprilla as they look to continue securing talent for the future.
That’s according to Sport, who say Barcelona do not want to miss the opportunity to ‘hunt’ for the best young talent on the market.
The newspaper explains they want to get ahead of other clubs in the fight for young footballers they believe will be major players in the future, and Watford’s Asprilla is one of them.
His performances in England have not gone unnoticed by those in charge at Camp Nou and his profile is one of those ‘of interest’ to the technical leaders at the club.
His performances this season have particularly caught the attention, with Asprilla on six goals and five assists for Watford so far, a further show of his talent.
Barcelona are ‘willing to anticipate’ the growing interest from big Premier League clubs that already have him in their sights and get ahead of them this summer.
Watford, for their part, are likely to demand a fee of €40-50m for the midfielder, with Joao Pedro’s move to Brighton last summer setting a precedent for the sale of future talents.
That’s a fee Barcelona would presumably struggle to pay given their financial situation, but the interest is there nonetheless.
