A week ago, Tuttosport in Italy shook the manager transfer market a bit when they claimed that West Bromwich Albion had made an offer to Ivan Juric, currently in charge at Torino.
It was made clear this would only happen if Shilen Patel took over control at the Hawthorns, which is looking more and more likely, but a big deal was on the table for the Croatian.
The hype of a West Brom move has died down a bit, but it hasn’t been entirely forgotten, as Toro News, relaying Tuttosport, recall that the Baggies are ‘interested’ in the Torino manager.
Juric’s contract with the Serie A side expires at the end of the season, and he said he would only renew if the club managed to qualify for Europe.
He once again reiterated a desire to stay only if certain conditions were met, and his president, Urbano Cairo, responded to him, making it clear that while he was a fan of his manager, life would go on without him.
The Torino decision maker said, relayed by Toro News in a separate article: “Can I say it? I don’t care anymore. The goal is to play this league, get the results and we discuss it all at the end. The subject of the contract no longer interests me. That’s enough, really. Did he make an opening? Who cares?
“I love Juric, I respect him a lot, but in life you can live without him. We’ve talked about it too much. Who is Juric’s greatest admirer? Who got him? Who supported him at the start of the season when things were not going well? Who values him more than me? So, now, let’s think about the league and then we’ll see.”
When it comes to West Brom, it appears that the season will be completed with Carlos Corberan at the helm, but we will have to see what happens beyond, as Patel’s takeover nears completion.
If he does decide to change managers, then Juric appears to be top of his wish list, but that’s a story for another day, it seems.
