Player ‘convinced’ Wolves to let him go in January – Molineux side agreed but ‘refused’ certain formulas

Yerson Mosquera returned to Wolverhampton Wanderers after spending the last year on loan at MLS side FC Cincinnati.

Gary O’Neil didn’t consider the 22-year-old for the second half of this season, resulting in Wolves sanctioning a dry loan move to Villarreal last month.

The centre-back is currently enjoying life in Spain and is beginning to become ‘the wall’ of Yellow Submarine’s defence. Focusing on his qualities, the newspaper states Mosquera not only defends well, but is also fast and is comfortable with the ball at his feet.

The report adds the South American ‘exerted force and convinced’ Wolves to let him leave on loan, after he found out about Villarreal’s interest.

Villarreal tried buying the Colombia international and also offered an option to buy as part of the loan deal. It’s explained that Wolves rejected both formulas as they are ‘aware of the potential of the modern defender’.

Wolves consider Mosquera as a potential starter in the Premier League soon, which is why they ‘refused’ to sell him in January.

The Wolves man made his first start for Villarreal in their 1-1 draw against Alavés.

“I felt very comfortable on the field against Alavés. I was very satisfied with the work and the result. It was a satisfaction to play as a starter, something that is not easy in a club like Villarreal,” he said.
