“I don’t want to leave” – Chelsea player denies exit rumours, will stay with Blues ‘as long as they want’ him there

Chelsea star Enzo Fernández has put the recent exit rumours to bed during an interview with ESPN.

The Blues have struggled in the league this season as they are currently 10th in the table, trailing fourth placed Tottenham Hotspur by 13 points.

Recent claims had stated the midfielder isn’t happy at Chelsea and is looking for a way out of Stamford Bridge in the summer. Catalan outlet Sport even stated the 23-year-old has been offered to Barcelona.

Last Tuesday, the Argentina international’s agent, Uriel Pérez, ruled out an exit for his client. Later that day, Fernández scored in Chelsea’s FA Cup win over Aston Villa.

On Monday, the World Cup winner found the back of the net in his side’s 3-1 league win over Crystal Palace. After the tie, he spoke to ESPN, where he was asked about the latest reports linking him with a move away from the west London club.

Responding to that, relayed by La Voz, he said: “I don’t know where those rumours came from. It was talked about on social media or something like that. I’m going to deny it because I don’t want to leave Chelsea, I’m fine here.”

“I feel good with my teammates, with the coaching staff and with the people of the club. From the first day I arrived they treated me wonderfully. I’m very grateful regardless of what happens in football. I’m grateful to be here. I’m happy here at Chelsea and I will continue as long as they want.”

On the difficult season so far under Mauricio Pochettino’s orders, Fernández explained: “The Premier League is very demanding and we must always be prepared. We had some ups and downs. We are finding performance and changing the attitude.”

Fernández has a chance to win first silverware with Chelsea when they face Liverpool in the EFL Cup final later this month.
