Despite many claims that Chelsea aren’t in a position to fire Mauricio Pochettino this season because of how expensive it would be, the rumours about the Argentine manager being replaced continue to swirl.
The latest comes from DAZN in Italy, relayed by Calico Napoli 24, where they believe that Roberto Mancini is the latest to have been added to the list of candidates at Stamford Bridge.
The manager, who knows the Premier League well, having won the trophy with Manchester City in 2012, is said to be a name some decision makers at Chelsea ‘like a lot’.
In fact, they like him so much, that ‘it is not excluded’ they could ‘reach an agreement’ with the Saudi Arabia manager ‘for the league finale’, meaning he takes over before the end of the season.
Whether that is a realistic move for Chelsea isn’t explicitly said, mostly because there is still a long way to go, with time for the current management to climb back up the table.
The Blues currently sit 11th in the Premier League after 23 games, but can overtake Wolves with a win against Crystal Palace on Monday night.
They are also just 10 points off sixth placed Manchester United with 15 games to go, meaning there is still plenty for Pochettino to play for if he can get his Chelsea team rolling in the coming months.
