The name Charles Herrmann might not mean a lot to most Brighton & Hove Albion fans, but it’s a name their club are actively monitoring.
The 18-year-old currently is under contract at Borussia Dortmund, but his deal with the Bundesliga side is set to expire at the end of the season.
That’s why Brighton are interested, and they are one of many clubs following the situation, as Florian Plettenberg brings the latest on the winger.
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, the journalist for Sky Germany explains Dortmund are currently in talks with Herrmann about a contract ‘beyond 2024’.
They do want him to stay at the club, but the youngster has yet to make a final decision, since he wants to play in a first-team next season.
Plettenberg then adds that several English and Spanish teams ‘have enquired’ about him because he would be a free agent in the summer, and Brighton are ‘monitoring him’.
New talks with Borussia Dortmund are scheduled for Herrmann, but there’s no guarantee they end up in a positive outcome, as he has yet to make a first-team appearance for Dortmund, which appears to be his express desire these days.
