As you might have noticed by our coverage of the European media, Tottenham’s signing of Lucas Bergvall is quite big news.
Everyone has been commenting on it, including his current manager, Thomas Lagerlöf, who gave an interview to Aftonbladet, relayed by Fotboll Transfers in Sweden.
The newspaper talk to him about Bergvall, who will be one of the players who will leave Djurgården in the summer, describing him as a ‘giant talent’.
The 18-year-old was the subject of a fierce battle between Tottenham and Barcelona, both offering different routes to success, with Spurs eventually coming out on top.
This all led to a lot of media attention, with Bergvall’s every move being scrutinised, having been spotted in Catalonia after a covert trip to London.
Still, Lagerlöf is impressed with how his prodigy took it all on the chin, commenting on the Tottenham transfer: “It’s up to him how it turns out. He’s a young lad and I think he’s handled all the excitement well under the circumstances. It must be damn tough.
“Now it’s about managing to land and focus on being a player who wants to make Djurgården better because then he will be able to contribute a lot. He showed last year the qualities he has.”
The 18-year-old only joined his current club a year ago from Brommapojkarna, but immediately took the step up in his stride, scoring two goals and assisting another in 25 appearances in the Allsvenskan.
