Brighton and Hove Albion striker Deniz Undav is continuing to win fans in Germany, with European champion Fredi Bobic the latest to praise him.
Yahoo Nachrichten cover comments from the Germany icon today as the striker continues to shine at VfB Stuttgart.
Undav joined Stuttgart on loan from Brighton in the summer after something of a difficult first year in England where he struggled to find his best form and eventually found himself replaced by Evan Ferguson.
He’s found his feet back in Germany, though, and currently has 13 goals and five assists in the Bundesliga to date, a number made even more impressive by the fact he’s only featured in 63% of the available minutes to date.
It’s been a major step up from what he showed at Brighton and has earned him plenty of attention, particularly from national team coach Julian Nagelsmann.
He’s pretty much guaranteed that Undav will be in his squad for the next international break, already speaking to the Brighton loanee on the situation and urging him to continue on his current path.
Bobic sees the logic in that and insists if Undav keeps scoring, it will be a case of Nagelsmann being forced to include him.
“If he continues to play like this for the next two or three months, Julian Nagelsmann won’t be able to get past him,” he said.
“He’s not a typical forward, not a huge edge like Füllkrug, waiting for the balls at the front. He also acts well between the rooms, so he can play almost like a 10. And of course, he uses the people around him very well and is also technically very strong.
“It was clear earlier that he has potential. It just shows that a lot of things have to fit in a group so that the individual quality can then be exploited. It’s a pleasure to watch him.”
