Matheus Cunha’s superb form at Wolverhampton Wanderers has not gone unnoticed in Spain, where they cover the striker today.

AS have a piece on the Brazilian, following similar coverage in his homeland earlier this week, and how he ‘finds his redemption’ under Gary O’Neil this season.

They explain that the Wolves man is in great form for Wolves at present, with a hattrick against Chelsea last time out taking him to 11 goals and seven assists in 27 games.

It means everyone at Wolves is now happy with the deal they agreed for him in the summer when they signed him on a permanent basis from Atletico Madrid following an initial loan deal.

That deal last season was questioned when he struggled under Julen Lopetegui and ‘did not sit well’ with Wolves fans, who felt it was a hasty move and overpriced given what he showed last year.

However, he’s been revolutionised under O’Neil, whose ability to get much better performances from a forward line that had previously struggled ‘is worthy of admiration’.

This has all been picked up on in Spain, where they are wondering what might have been for a player who only showed ‘intermittent signs’ of his talent at Atletico.

Now he’s shining at Molineux, one of the in-form forwards across the entirety of Europe and a shoe-in for Brazil’s squad at the Copa America in the summer if he continues along his current path.
