Lucas Bergvall ‘personally cancelled’ a move to Eintracht Frankfurt when he wrapped up a deal to join Tottenham for better money.
That’s according to BILD, who cover the player today and another of his rejections after deciding to join Tottenham.
Bergvall joined Tottenham towards the end of the January transfer window, with a plan in place for him to join Ange Postecoglou’s squad from the summer.
The move has been presented as a major coup for Tottenham, who have beaten off major competition from around the world for the youngster, who is highly regarded to say the least.
They say the German side tried extensively and were confident they had won the race before Bergvall eventually joined Tottenham.
According to them the youngster ‘succumbed’ to the ‘financial temptations’ on offer in England, with Tottenham offering a significantly higher amount than their rivals.
He ultimately ignored Eintracht’s carefully laid out plan for him and decided on Spurs and even ‘personally cancelled’ the deal from the German side once everything was finalised with those in charge of the Premier League side.
That naturally left Eintracht frustrated and disappointed, but the reality is they’re now the only ones to have been rejected by the youngster last month, with all eyes now on England and the Premier League for him and his team.
