Newcastle United and Tottenham are ‘still candidates’ to sign Antonio Nusa should Brentford decide to ‘pull the plug’ on their deal for him.
That’s according to Het Nieuwsblad, who report that a final decision has not yet been made on the 18-year-old’s future after his ‘dream was cut short’ at the end of the January window.
Frank’s side appeared to have wrapped up a surprise deal for the highly rated youngster at the end of the window only for complications picked up during his medical to see the deal abandoned at the last minute.
The two clubs are still working on a potential deal for the summer, but the Bees are yet to make a final decision on a deal that could see them spend €37m.
Intensive conversations are taking place between the various medical teams involved but reports in England have indicated they might be about to pull out and look elsewhere.
Brugge have not received such signals but if they do decide against it, there are still candidates in the mix according to Het Nieuwsblad, who say Newcastle and Tottenham are still keen on him.
The soap opera around the player has, naturally, made the player less interesting to those two but they remain in the mix nonetheless, just from afar.
Tottenham is not a surprising name to hear given they were linked with Nusa earlier in January, while Newcastle have also been looking at younger players increasingly more often as part of their future plans.
Whether either move for him this summer remains to be seen, and all depends on what happens in the coming months after the deadline day drama.
