Nottingham Forest are closing in on a deal for goalkeeper Matz Sels, after seeing an effort for Koen Casteels rejected by Wolfsburg.
That’s according to journalists Sacha Tavolieri and Pieter-Jan Calcoen, who both have different stories on Nottingham Forest’s mad dash for a goalkeeper on deadline day.
First Tavolieri, who reports that RC Strasbourg have accepted the departure of Sels and are currently finalising a deal with Nottingham Forest.
The nature of that deal isn’t made clear, but Sels is reportedly on his way to London for a medical ahead of completing his move to Nottingham Forest before the window closes.
They appear to have moved for the Belgian goalkeeper after being frustrated in their attempts to sign compatriot Casteels.
Calcoen reports that Nottingham Forest had made a €5m offer for the goalkeeper but this was rejected by German side Wolfsburg, who were seemingly uninterested in letting the 31-year-old depart at the end of the window, despite his contract expiring in the summer.
That led Nottingham Forest to go for Sels instead and they’re now finalising that move, with the 31-year-old set to arrive in the UK for a medical at some point today.
