Rangers are negotiating a deal to send midfielder Jose Cifuentes out on loan before the end of the window, given he’s not an important player for Philippe Clement.
Brazilian side Cruzeiro are at the front of the queue.
That’s according to journalist Jose Cesar Luis Merlo, Ge Globo and Ecuavisa, who all cover the potential move out of Ibrox today.
Merlo reported last night that the Rangers midfielder was in advanced negotiations with Cruzeiro, with them having become an option for him after a potential move to Turkey became ‘frustrated’.
Ecuavisa cover this and explain the midfielder had ‘everything arranged’ to sign with Rizespor in Turkey but didn’t sign the agreement and is now in negotiations with Cruzeiro.
That’s led to talks with Cruzeiro, and the two clubs are now discussing a six-month loan deal that would not include a purchase option. The belief is that a departure would be beneficial for both parties.
Ge Globo, meanwhile, add that Cruzeiro are ‘looking to sign’ the Rangers man and his departure from Ibrox is ‘considered certain’.
Their information is that the interest is both ways, with Rangers viewing a loan favourably so the player can showcase himself and allow them to potentially get their money back in the summer.
Cruzeiro’s interest has been confirmed by GE and they are the ones in the ‘most advanced conversations’ but nothing has been finalised and both the Rangers board and Cifuentes’ entourage are ‘in search of new options’.
It is, therefore, one to keep an eye on in the final days of the window, with Clement seemingly okay if Cifuentes departs and Cruzeiro looking to get a deal done.
