The Brazilian media today reveals Corinthians’ interest in signing Marquinhos from Arsenal.

According to Itatiaia, the Timão already made ‘preliminary talks’ with the Gunners about the move. The attempt is for a loan until the end of the year with an option to buy.

It’s obviously highlighted that Corinthians are expected to have a good relationship with Arsenal director Edu Gaspar, who worked at the Brazilian club between 2012 and 2016.

The story claims Marquinhos is out of the Gunners’ plans, with the club currently evaluating the approaches he’s been getting from South America and Europe.

The winger had spent the first part of the season at Nantes, where he only had 150 minutes played, with one assist during that time period. He was brought back to the London side, but it’s hard to imagine him having any chances under Mikel Arteta.

Marquinhos is currently out with Brazil’s pre-Olympic squad and already claimed his future would be sorted after the tournament, with Arsenal having his priority.

Now we shall see whether he would accept a comeback to his country, as he’s still 20 years old, even just to ensure he gets a few regular minutes under his belt
