Liverpool youngster Mateusz Musiałowski has decided against joining Birmingham City in the winter market.
That’s according to Sport.pl, who state the 20-year-old ‘changed his mind’ after a deal to join the Blues was very close.
The Championship side had found an agreement with Liverpool, this wasn’t difficult considering his deal expires in a few months.
On Thursday, the winger and his agent, Cezary Kucharski, made a trip to Birmingham, likely to carry out the transfer formalities.
It’s claimed the Poland U21 international held talks with Birmingham City manager Tony Mowbray, their sporting director and his compatriot, Krystian Bielik.
However, he decided against signing a deal with the Blues, after a ‘change of decision at the last minute’.
The attacker has been at Liverpool since 2020 and was part of their U18, U19 and U21 side so far. Jürgen Klopp didn’t give him any opportunities in the first team.
Sport.pl claim Musiałowski’s idea is to make a move away from England and possibly return to Poland. The window is his home country closes next month and this would give him and his agent sufficient time to find a new club there.
