Sead Kolasinac to Arsenal has had something of a crazy week. First, it was claimed in Bosnia that Kolasinac had already signed for Arsenal, and then the player’s father denied that but confirmed the club to be a serious option.
There’s a worry Schalke could lose several players this summer, and there’s probably a few keen to go. The Bundesliga club’s management have passed the buck to the players all season, and it would be no surprise if some have had enough.
In his column for SportBild, German football legend Lothar Matthaus has touched upon the situation, and believes that, given Schalke’s current situation, it’s an uphill task to stop Kolasinac joining Arsenal: “With Sead Kolasinac it seems his goodbye is already revealed, to the Premier League. If prestigious as well as lucrative clubs like Arsenal lure, it is of course difficult for Schalke to keep their players.”
If Arsene Wenger fancies having a look around the rest of Schalke’s squad, he may want to know that Matthaus has suggested Leon Goretzka and Max Meyer could also be keen to leave.
