Despite all the reports about Wolverhampton Wanderers’ interest in signing Hugo Ekitike from Paris Saint Germain, it seems the 21-year-old should go somewhere else.
As L’Equipe today features a story on the player’s future, it’s claimed that he’s now close to joining Eintracht Frankfurt.
Ekitike has ‘almost reached’ an agreement with the Bundesliga side, and is even accepting a pay cut to complete the move to Germany.
The clubs are now set to agree the amount for the loan with the option to buy, with Frankfurt having ‘taken a decisive lead’ against the competitors.
That certainly comes as disappointing news for Wolves, who were first said to be in front for the signing, and then seemed to drop out of the race.
With PSG accepting a loan with a buying option and the player taking a pay cut, we now wonder what stopped the Molineux side from landing him.
At one point, reports from the German media said Ekitike could favour Frankfurt over Wolves, and it now seems that’s exactly what happened.
