Following the recent reports regarding Napoli’s interest in Sheffield United defender Anel Ahmedhodzic, the Italian media has something to say on that chase.
TuttoMercatoWeb director Niccolo Ceccarini today spoke to Radio Marte. And quoted by TuttoNapoli, he made it clear it won’t be an easy task to sign the 24-year-old.
It was claimed that Napoli need to get ready to pay the fee for Ahmedhodzic, as Sheffield United aren’t expected to negotiate the price.
“I believe there are two names: one is Theate, a left-footed centre-back, and the other we have is that of the Sheffield United defender, Ahmedhodzic, who costs around €20m. And when you fish in England they don’t give you any discounts. I don’t know which Napoli will take,” said Ceccarini.
Despite the injuries suffered this season, Ahmedhozic has 14 appearances for Sheffield United and remains an important player for the Blades.
The centre-back is currently valued by Transfermarkt at €18m, and with the Premier League side demanding even more for the move, Napoli may have some difficulties.
The Serie A side have been in desperate need of reinforcements in January, working on several loans and cheap deals, so taking Ahmedhozic may be a big investment for them at this stage.
The player is well protected by the Blades with a contract until 2026, so there’s no urge for such a deal.
