Leeds January target now ‘close’ to another club – ‘Negotiations continuing’, Whites need to act ASAP

Earlier on Wednesday, we covered the latest in Italy regarding Leeds United’s interest in Bartlomiej Dragowski.

The Poland international is seen as the man the Elland Road club want to take over from Illan Meslier, but the Championship side were told to hurry up as Spezia couldn’t wait forever to sell their man.

Well, Leeds may have taken a bit too long, as the latest from Italy, from Gianluca Di Marzio at 15.05 (Italy time), suggests Dragowski is now ‘close’ to heading to Greece.

It’s Panathinaikos who reportedly have moved for the 26-year-old, and they have also included their second-string goalkeeper, Yuriy Lodygin, as part of the deal.

This obviously saves Spezia the job of finding a backup for Jeroen Zoet, who took over from Dragowski in Italy, which was the starting point for the stories sending the goalkeeper to Leeds.

It’s said ‘negotiations are continuing’ between Spezia and the Greek club, although ‘no agreement has yet been reached’, giving Leeds that little bit of wiggle room to act if they are indeed set on getting the Pole in this transfer window.
