We’ve recently been seeing reports claiming that negotiations involving Wolverhampton Wanderers loanee Gonçalo Guedes are taking longer than expected.
While it was claimed that the player asked Benfica to leave for Villarreal, it’s been said the Portuguese side haven’t yet given the green light to cut short his spell.
That now seems to be backed up by Cadena Ser in Spain, with the outlet claiming the ‘concern is growing’ regarding the Wolves player.
It’s said that even though Guedes wants Villarreal and Villarreal want Guedes, the agreement is getting ‘complicated’ because Benfica are delaying it.
The Eagles reportedly want to close the arrival of Benhjamin Rollheiser first, and now ‘hinted’ that Guedes will only leave after the Portuguese League Cup.
That means it could take place after the 24th, when they play Estoril in the semifinal, or maybe after the 27th, when a potential final takes place.
Cadena Ser says it’s not known whether Villarreal will wait or go for an alternative, especially because they’re not fully convinced about Guedes’ physical situation.
It seems Wolves are fine with the operation, but have their hands tied until Benfica give their approval.
