Over the past few weeks, the message coming out of the Italian press, mostly Gazzetta dello Sport, is that Manchester United are very keen to sign Ivan Perisic.
The Inter Milan forward was apparently a €60m target for Jose Mourinho just a few weeks ago, but other clubs are now reported to have enquired about the Croatia international’s availability this summer, including Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham.
According to Corriere dello Sport on Tuesday, Spurs are one of three clubs (Chelsea and Manchester United the other two) from the Premier League to have made contact with Inter Milan about Perisic, who is widely regarded as one of the Serie A side’s sources of income this summer.
With so many big clubs interested, and with the fees being touted, such a sale would allow 
the Italian club to bolster their squad even further, adding younger talent to replace the departing 28-year-old.
Whether Tottenham need Perisic is a different matter altogether, but his versatility and pedigree are two things Pochettino certainly could use in his team, especially with the Erik Lamela case a big question mark following this season’s injury and Georges-Kevin N’Koudou’s 313 minutes of football suggesting he might be on his way out soon too.
One thing is certain, however: we cannot see Tottenham spending €60m on a 28-year-old anytime soon.
