As well as searching for a midfielder, Napoli are trying to bolster their defence this January, and Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah is on their list.
That’s according to Gazzetta dello Sport, who have a look at some of the deals the Serie A side could try and do in the next couple of weeks.
The Italians haven’t been able to fully replace Kim Min-jae, with their signings not up to par just yet, and that’s why they could turn their attention to trying to bring in the Chelsea man in this transfer window.
However, they wouldn’t do so permanently, as they would only want a temporary deal for the versatile defender, who appears on their list alongside Jakub Kiwior.
It’s made clear that a ‘first enquiry’ has already been made regarding the Chelsea player, but Napoli are still waiting to find out whether the Blues would be willing to ‘open up’ to a loan.
That means, for now, they haven’t received a positive signal from Stamford Bridge, and these tend to be the deals that get done later on in the transfer window, when time is running out and clubs have fully assessed their squads for the second half of the campaign.
