Striker Sam Lammers has refused to say moving to Rangers was a mistake for him, despite leaving to join FC Utrecht on loan this week having failed to impress Philippe Clement.
The 26-year-old has been speaking to NOS in the Netherlands after temporarily leaving Ibrox to join the Dutch side on loan until the end of the season.
Lammers had only been with Rangers since joining them in a €3.5m deal from Atalanta in the summer transfer window last year as then manager Michael Beale looked to bolster his forward options.
Life at Rangers proved to be less than sweet, though, with the striker managing just two goals and two assists in 31 games this season.
Whether he has a future at Ibrox beyond the summer is now up for debate, with most accepting that his move to Rangers was something of a mistake. Lammers, though, refuses to look at it that way.
“Well… You shouldn’t think like that, it doesn’t make you happy,” he said.
“You never know how things would have turned out differently. I have gained many experiences, won prizes and fought against relegation (in his career).
“The move to another club was logical for me every time, because I wanted to get around to playing. Like now at Utrecht. But it seems clear to me that it is better to stay in one place for a longer period of time.”
