Radu Dragusin rejected more than Bayern Munich to join Tottenham this month, turning down Napoli because he respects Genoa fans too much.
That’s according to the player’s agent, Florin Manea, who has been speaking to TuttoMercatoWeb regarding the player’s impending move to Tottenham.
Dragusin is expected to complete a move to Tottenham sooner rather than later after Ange Postecoglou’s side moved to add him to their squad this month.
The Australian manager had admitted last month that he wanted to sign a central defender in January, with injuries to Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven in the first half of the season having proven problematic and Eric Dier on his way out.
They have beaten off competition to secure the Genoa defender’s signature, with Bayern Munich having also been in the mix for the defender’s signature.
Indeed, Manea has been quoted this week sharing his shock at the player’s decision, admitting he was surprised by his clients to turn down a European giant like Bayern Munich in favour of going to Tottenham instead.
He’s now explained that Bayern aren’t the only side to have been left disappointed, as Dragusin has also rejected approaches from Italian champions Napoli.
“We had been talking for two months (with Tottenham),” he said.
“Bayern Munich showed up on the last day before leaving and it’s normal to think about it. However, the boy kept his word with Tottenham.
“Napoli was the most concrete club. But Radu didn’t want to go to another Italian team, he didn’t even want to leave Genoa halfway through the season… he thought more about the Rossoblu fans than about his career.
“While Milan did a survey, I spoke to Moncada but told him that we had already chosen Tottenham. We are happy with the choice, Radu keeps it when he gives his word. Always.”
