Union SG manager Alexander Blessin has insisted he has no worries over defender Koki Machida, despite numerous reports linking him to Tottenham.

The manager has been speaking to RTBF, relayed by Voetbal Nieuws, about the situation at the club as some of his key players continue to be linked with moves away.

Machida is one of them, having impressed for the Belgian side since joining from Kashima Antlers in a €1m deal in July last year.

Those performances have not gone unnoticed, and several reports have linked him with a move away since the end of November.

Tottenham were first thrown into the mix at that point, and it continued from there, with the last report at the end of December suggesting that they were hovering to secure a bargain deal and strengthen their defence, something Ange Postecoglou has specifically asked them to do.

They’re now on the verge of signing Radu Dragusin from Genoa, though, and it seems that’s given Blessin confidence that Tottenham won’t be signing his key man this month. In fact, he’s confident nobody will be leaving for the time being.

“When there is talk about transfers, I think it is more about next season,” he said.

“The mercato is open, those players deserve their national selections and if they perform well there, we know how things can go in football.

“If big clubs are interested in my players, then that is no problem for me. That just means that we are doing a good job here. I have no fear that a player would leave.”
