Brighton & Hove Albion are now providing competition for Udinese midfielder Lazar Samardzic, according to reports.
It’s Sky Deutschland journalist Florian Plettenberg who today shares an update on the player’s situation, as the 21-year-old is about to change clubs in the winter market.
Napoli are said to be in advanced negotiations to land Samardzic, as his agents Maden Samardzic, who’s also his father, and Tolga Dirican, had a meeting with the club in Milan yesterday.
However, as Samardzic is still to take a decision on joining Napoli, Brighton have apparently showed up trying to hijack the deal.
Plettenberg claims that the Seagulls have ‘entered the race’, even though there are no details on their current strategy to try to beat the competition.
Samardzic is currently valued by Transfermarkt at €20m, but it wouldn’t be shocking to see Brighton offering more in order to outbid Napoli and convince the player of moving to the Premier League instead.
