Atalanta won’t give up their pursuit of Birmingham City midfielder Jordan James, with a new and improved offer potentially on the way for him.

That’s according to journalist Alfredo Pedullà, relayed by Sport Italia, who insists that the Serie A side will get their man if it is up to them.

Reports over the weekend made it clear Atalanta were pushing to sign James from Birmingham, with their scouts impressed by what they had seen of him when scouting him.

Those reports have continued at the beginning of this week, with various reports explaining that the two sides are close to finalising a deal for the Wales midfielder.

They were being pushed by the idea that James was more than keen on the switch, seduced by the idea of playing in Europe and the big pay packet that was being offered to him.

As of yet a deal hasn’t been completed but Alfredo Pedullà reports that the Italians are not giving up, and an improved bid to convince Birmingham into the sale this month.

“Atalanta won’t give up on Jordan James, the 19-year-old Birmingham midfielder who has already said that the Bergamo club likes him very much,” he said.

After an initial offer slightly higher than €5m plus bonuses, the idea is that of improving it to try the final push. And after the championship match against Frosinone, further contacts are planned to find the definitive balance.”
