January ‘dream’ to sign Wolves player is pushed – ‘Barely plays’ for O’Neil’s side, which gives hope

Real Sociedad still ‘dream’ of signing Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Pablo Sarabia, with the fact he ‘barely plays’ for Gary O’Neil giving them hope.

That’s according to AS, who say the Spanish side are looking at the Spaniard as a replacement for Mohamed Ali Cho after he left to join Nice in France.

That move was worth €10m, meaning they have recovered the money they spent on him in 2022 and some funds to try and find a replacement this month.

They’re already moving to find someone to fit the gap in the squad and ‘names of old wishes’ for director of football Roberto Olabe are being looked at, particularly those who ‘do not have continuity’ at their current clubs.

Wolves forward Sarabia is one of them, having only played 13 games for Gary O’Neil’s side this season. That makes him a potential option for La Real to look at.

There’s no mention of whether Wolves would be open to a sale, how much a move would cost or even if Sarabia would be keen, just that he’s on the list being drawn up.

The idea he ‘barely plays’ for Wolves would be stretching things slightly as he has been a regular for O’Neil this season and impressed, albeit from the bench.

Either way, he’s a name that Olabe has liked in the past and is looking at again now that Mohamed Ali Cho has returned to France.
