Towards the end of the summer window, Wolverhampton Wanderers failed in their efforts to sign Boulaye Dia.
Their offer of loan with an obligation to buy set at €12m was rejected by Salernitana and this was confirmed by their then sporting director, Morgan De Sanctis, in September.
Il Mattino, relayed by Salernitana News, state the 27-year-old continues to be a target for Wolves.
The Senegal international picked up an injury against AC Milan last week and the Serie A side have announced he could be out of action for four to five weeks.
Should Dia be omitted from the Ivory Coast squad, his potential buyer could take him early and let their medical staff work on his recovery. One such club could be Wolves, who have returned with the same offer to sign him in January.
It’s said Gary O’Neil’s side have ‘come forward with a loan offer with right of redemption’ set at €12m but it was turned down by Salernitana.
New Salernitana sporting director Walter Sabatini has stated Dia, who has a €21m clause, will only leave on a permanent transfer.
The report adds that the club could agree to let go of the striker for a cash plus player deal. Salernitana’s idea is to collect at least €20m, and if Wolves were to change the formula and raise the offer by €8m, they would succeed in their efforts to sign Dia.
