Gonzalo Montiel is set to make a quick exit from Nottingham Forest and potentially move to Brazilian side Flamengo, who are pushing to sign him from Sevilla.
That’s according to ABC Sevilla, who say his loan deal at Nottingham Forest has ‘not gone as anticipated’ and thus could be cancelled post haste.
The newspaper explains that Flamengo are showing interest in Montiel and are seen as a ‘more than feasible option’ for the full-back, who is currently on loan with Nottingham Forest.
The plan has not worked out, though, with him managing just 244 minutes of action spread out over six games at the beginning of the campaign.
It is because of that his loan deal is ‘assumed to be broken’ and that he will return to Sevilla as soon as possible.
They don’t particularly want him either but that’s not an issue as Flamengo are showing an interest in a deal after previously being keen on him in the summer transfer window.
They even put €10m on the table for him at the time but a deal wasn’t struck, and he ended up joining Nottingham Forest on loan instead.
That’s not worked out and all indications in Spain are now that he will be returning to Sevilla, perhaps before being moved on quickly for pastures new.
