Nottingham Forest trying to cancel summer deal early in January – Agents ‘looking for a solution’

With just eight appearances under Steve Cooper during the first half of the season at Nottingham Forest, it’s fair to say the deal taking Divock Origi from AC Milan hasn’t worked out.

Of course, that could all change under Nuno Espírito Santo, who was named as the new manager, but that doesn’t appear to be the case at first glance.

That’s because Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri has revealed that Nottingham Forest, who are looking for a number nine following the injury to Taiwo Awoniyi, are trying to ‘break the loan’ with Milan for the forward.

The idea behind this would be to then give Origi a chance to find himself another club during the January transfer window, since his prospect of game time at San Siro is very low.

His agents are ‘looking for a solution’ that would suit all parties, but the general point is that Nottingham Forest ‘would like to buy a striker’, but first need to get Origi off their books at City Ground to be able to achieve that.

It’s worth pointing out the Tricky Trees did negotiate an option to buy the former Liverpool man when they initially struck the deal with Milan, but it’s clear that won’t be happening any time soon.
