Back in July, Brighton & Hove Albion announced that an agreement was reached with Farul Constanța for Adrian Mazilu to arrive at the Premier League side in January 2024.
According to Digi Sport, Brighton have agreed to pay €3m to the Romanian club for the 18-year-old’s transfer.
The winger has scored nine goals and registered four assists from 45 games since joining the Romanian club from Gheorghe Hagi Football Academy in 2022.
Farul Constanța have one more game left in this calendar year, against Rapid București, and that will be Mazilu’s last outing for his current club, before he moves to The Amex.
“It will be my last match, I hope to enter the field, to give my best. For me it meant an extraordinary thing, because this is where I started football. Everything I learned was from the academy. I got the trophies and medals from here,” he said.
The attacker is well aware he needs time to adapt at Brighton, which he believes won’t be easy. Despite this, he still seems to have hopes to make his way into the Seagulls’ first team as soon as possible.
“It will be quite difficult, I have to adapt to their style and cope. It is the strongest league in Europe, where the most beautiful football is played,” Mazilu explained.
“I wanted it since I was little [to reach the Premier League] and this dream came true. I have to take the step and debut there. My plan is to debut there in the Premier League and reach the senior national team,” the Romanian added.
It’ll be interesting to see De Zerbi’s plans for the player, when he moves to Brighton next month.
