Brighton & Hove Albion’s Deniz Undav has been on loan at VfB Stuttgart since the last window.
On November 29th, Bild explained that the German club have an option to make his stay permanent for €12m. This is seen as a bargain price, taking his form into account. The Brighton owned player has scored nine goals and registered two assists from 13 games.
Stuttgart sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth has been speaking to Sky Deutschland, and was asked about the possibility of buying the 27-year-old after this season.
Responding to that, he said: “There are several parties at the table and we don’t have the greatest weight at this table. Deniz has a contract at Brighton and the club in England will also play a leading role in deciding what happens next in the situation.”
“Deniz suits us, above all his temperament, and the issues outside the pitch are also very, very important to him. And so: Of course, we’re working on it, but it will take another month or two before it’s even possible to get things done in this regard,” Wohlgemuth explained.
On November 30th, the German revealed he “can imagine” seeing himself at Stuttgart beyond his loan deal. A day later, Undav opened the door to a permanent deal but also insisted that as things stand, he’ll have to return to Brighton next summer.
The Seagulls signed Undav from Royale Union Saint-Gilloise in 2022, and he scored eight goals last season. His deal at The Amex lasts until 2026.
